Local fish is cooked based on the the traditional method of lāwalu, in which fish was wrapped in ti leaves and broiled over an open fire.

Topping the fish is a dried seafood butter made with dried Asian seafood ingredients, such as cuttlefish, scallops, and ebi.

Walking down any snack food aisle in Hawai`i grocers, you'll often come across these popular dried snacks that many locals are fond of.
