Dulse Dark Chocolate Tart

Dulse is a type of seaweed that has been used for thousands of years around the world, eaten as is or incorporated into everything from soups to breads, as well as used in beauty products.  It is also used as feed for cows, horses, and abalone.

Right here on the Big Island, Kona Abalone produces both the abalone and the dulse that the abalone feed on.  This red macroalgae (Palmaria mollis) not only gives abalone a distinct taste and appearance, but it is rich in amino acids, antioxidants, and mineral, which humans can benefit from too.

Dulse is incorporated into our Dark Chocolate Tart.

Hawai`i is the only state that commercially grows cacao.  We have an abundance of amazing cacao producers and chocolate manufacturers throughout Hawai`i, and this dessert showcases chocolate crafted by Honoka`a Chocolate Company.

Paige, one of our team members, has created a dark chocolate tart consisting of a flaky crust with a bittersweet chocolate custard utilizing local 70% cacao chocolate and eggs.
